Climate & Weather
Ladakh is a high-altitude Himalayan region with a dry mountain climate and strong temperature differences between day and night. Even during summer, mornings and evenings can be cold. Temperatures may vary from 0°C to +25°C depending on altitude and season.
Altitude & Acclimatization
Most areas in Ladakh are located above 3,000 meters. Mild altitude symptoms such as tiredness, headache, or shortness of breath may occur during the first days.

- avoid overexertion immediately after arrival
- walk slowly and rest properly
Clothing Recommendations
- warm jacket or down jacket
- thermal layers for mornings and evenings
- comfortable walking shoes
- sunglasses and sunscreen
- lip balm and moisturizer
- personal medications if required
Mountain Roads & Transfers
Roads in Ladakh pass through high mountain passes, valleys, rivers, and remote landscapes. Travel times may be longer due to altitude, road conditions, weather, or military checkpoints.
Food & Cuisine
Ladakhi and North Indian cuisine may be different from your usual diet. Vegetarian meals are widely available. Due to altitude, lighter meals are recommended during the first days.
Connectivity
Mobile signal and internet connection may be limited in Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake area, and remote mountain regions.
Local Culture
Ladakh is deeply connected with Tibetan Buddhist culture and monastery traditions. Please respect local customs, monasteries, prayer areas, monks, and photography restrictions where applicable.
Cash & Payments
ATMs are available mainly in Leh town. Outside Leh many places operate only with cash payments.
Safety
Please follow guide and driver instructions during mountain travel. Weather conditions and altitude may affect road schedules.
